Planted in 1949 and Still Growing
Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community was founded in 1949 by the Rev. Dr. Franklin S. Dyrness, who saw caring for older adults as an expression of Christian faithfulness first and social service second. That modest ministry in rural Lancaster County is now a thriving Life Plan Community (or Continuing Care Retirement Community) that holds fast to the character that shaped it from the start.
Our mission touches every dimension of residents’ lives—spiritual, physical, emotional, and social. That wasn’t incidental. Rev. Dyrness believed that residents deserve to be known fully—not just cared for medically, but accompanied through the ordinary moments and significant seasons of later life. Almost a century later, nothing about that has changed.
Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides more than $2.8 million in unreimbursed care each year.
